Contestation past > present > future
The CENTRALE is the contemporary art centre of the City of Brussels, one of the missions of which is to raise the public’s awareness about present-day creations in the field of the visual arts.
In 2018, the CENTRALE is becoming an Open Academy and hosting professors and students from several art schools in Brussels. They will immerse themselves into the causes of the student and workers’ revolt of May 1968 in order to sound out present and future protest. Presented as a work in progress, Contestation past > present > future will bring together elements from research work and artistic proposals by students as well as a series of conferences and performances.
CENTRALE for contemporary art
Created in 2006, the CENTRALE is the contemporary art centre of the City of Brussels. Firmly rooted in its neighbourhood, Brussels and the world, its aim is to inform as many people as possible about present-day creations in the field of the visual arts. Alongside its major exhibitions, it also presents emerging creation in its CENTRALE.box space.
